By bike in Skagen

Yes, why choose the bike? The bike is the obvious choice when visiting Skagen - especially in the summer, when the town is full of parties, colors and happy days and parking spaces are limited.

When you get on your bike and head out into the nature of the area, there's a special expectation in your body to have a great experience.

If you're driving in high summer, getting from A to B is a challenge in itself, as there are a lot of visitors and they take up a lot of street space, so with a bike it's much easier (and faster) to get there and back.

Picnic in the open air

If you don't fancy a picnic in the open air, you can visit one of Skagen's many delicious cafés and restaurants such as Jakobs Café, Skagen Fiskerestaurant, Pakhuset, Ruths Hotels Brasserie etc., which are also more easily accessible by bike than by car - and oh yes, you can also drink an extra glass of wine with peace of mind 🙂

The Church of the Blessed Sacrament

By bike you can easily get to the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, which is the old parish church, the medieval Sct. Laurentius church. For four hundred years, it gathered the people until the sand drift covered the church road and cemetery. After that, the church quietly fell into disrepair. In 1795, they were forced to stop holding services and the church was closed.

There is a playground, tables and benches, and toilets about 400 meters from the Church of the Blessed Sacrament. During the summer there is a kiosk selling tickets to the church tower.

Experience Grenen

In addition to the Church of the Annunciation, you can also easily reach Grenen. You can't cycle all the way out to Grenen as the last part is on loose sand, but with a bike you don't have to look (and wait) for a parking space. Instead, just leave your bike in the bike racks and walk out there. If you don't want to walk, you can hop on the iconic "Sandorm". It shuttles back and forth through the dunes and takes visitors all the way to the tip.

Grenen is the tip of Jutland, where the two seas Skagerrak and Kattegat meet. It is a fascinating experience to stand on the outermost tip of Jutland and watch the waves from the two seas collide.

Action on Skagen's MTB route

We also have mountain bikes for rent, so if you're looking for an action-packed vacation, we highly recommend the Skagen MTB route.

The route runs in the eastern part of the dune plantation and alternates between gravel road, sandy subsoil and well-kept, stable ground. The route has a good flow and is just challenging enough for beginners.

If you want to ride the Rockgarden, that's also an option. The area has few hills and a minimal number of climbs, so everyone can enjoy the cycling and at the same time get a great nature experience.

The length of the track is 13.6 km.
